Sakura Introductory Statement

The photographs were made in Kyoto over the Sakura bloom in just a few days.  There were a number of different varieties photographed throughout the city in different gardens and parks. However, cherry tree plantings are along canals, boulevards, and side streets.  Trees are placed along the footpaths connecting streets and residences tucked away in older neighborhoods.  The tops of trees are seen topping garden walls.  Cherry trees are a major element of the city.  The bloom is a vital part of Kyoto life and enjoyed by all in public and private spaces.
